It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas on our intranet

I know I've mentioned Christmas before December, but with retail launching Christmas in June, I feel it's never to early to get your intranet Christmas ready. Besides, November is fast disappearing before our eyes, which means before we know it, Christmas and all of the fun that comes with it will soon be upon us.

Christmas ads are already out. Marks & Spencers are jumper crazy this year and the John Lewis ad is as great as ever. But what does all this mean for your intranet? It means that Christmas is a fantastic opportunity to really think about your intranet engagement and how your intranet can reflect the festive office cheer and welcome and delight your users each time they visit. Here are some tips from Sorce to help get your intranet into the festive spirit.

1. Offer your users something festive for free

Everyone offers freebies at Christmas, so why shouldn't your intranet. It could be something tangible, like free mince pies and mulled wine with the intranet team or it could be something digital like Christmas themes or falling snow for their intranet pages. It's a great way to meet your intranet users and build a sense of community.

2. Create a series of new content

The excitement around Christmas doesn't start on Christmas eve it starts on the 1st December (officially) as we enter Advent which has long been tradition. Why not join in and and create an intranet advent calendar that behind each window redirects the user to blogs/videos or facts that your users find interesting and encourages them to keep coming back for more.

3. That's a Wrap and end of a decade!

Celebrate just how far your company has come over the last decade and ask your users to get involved and post pictures/videos of events and moments from your business over the last 10 years. It's also a great way to recognise achievements during 2019.

4. Christmas party bookings

Make use of your intranet forms function and create a form for your Christmas party. We've used ours for choosing our menu options for our Christmas lunch. It saves everyone time and ensures everyone gets what they ordered.

5. Don't forget to inject some Christmas into your intranet.

Simple Christmas graphics go down a treat and really add to your user experience. We add festive hats to our contact images and falling snow on key pages!

Whatever you and your intranet do during this festive period, I hope it helps your users get into the festive spirit and remind them just how amazing your intranet is.
